About Us

Advanced Dermatology and Plastic Surgery is Kansas City’s premier team for skin care, cosmetic surgery and skin cancer removal and reconstruction. The idea of this center spawned initially by two of our original team members as a “back of the napkin” idea during dinner, and Advanced Dermatology & Plastic Surgery was born out of a lack of multidisciplinary approach to skin care in the metro area. Our expert team offers patients, physicians and the community a reliable and convenient resource for understanding, preventing and managing all skin care, cosmetic and skin cancer needs.

Advanced Dermatology & Plastic Surgery fuses board-certified dermatology, skin cancer specialists and plastic surgery to serve our patients with the most highly trained experts in these fields. At Advanced Dermatology & Plastic Surgery, patients no longer need to travel from office to office to receive the highest-level skin and cosmetic care. Our center is designed to provide the best specialists, and the best care, in one, convenient location.

Our Providers

Thomas L.H. Hocker, MD is recognized as one of the leaders in the field of Dermatology, skin cancer, and advanced reconstructive surgery. He is the author of the best-selling Dermatology textbook, Review of Dermatology, and is one of fewer than 10 Dermatologists in the USA who is ACMS fellowship trained and Triple-Board-Certified (Dermatology, Dermatopathology, and Mohs and Reconstructive surgery) through the American Board of Dermatology. His triple mastery of Dermatology, Dermatopathology, and Mohs surgery has given him unique insight into challenging cases and made him one of the country's experts in rare skin tumors (adnexal neoplasms, atypical pigmented lesions, Spitz nevi, and spitzoid lesions). Dr. Hocker is a member of the prestigious American College of Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology. He has published nearly 100 peer-reviewed research studies and manuscripts, with most focusing on skin cancer and reconstructive surgery. He is frequently an invited lecturer at national Dermatology meetings and skin cancer conferences. He has served as President of both the Kansas City Dermatology Society and the Kansas Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery Society.
